Diary: Omelette Eating & Flower Admiring

This week has been possibly more art-focused than usual. This is probably because I handed in an essay draft and watched the film Basquiat. If you're keen on seeing David Bowie give a wonderfully comical performance as Andy Warhol, give it a go. Other than art, I've been preoccupied mostly with omelettes and ducks, but also One Direction and loo roll. Ain't life grand?

Texting

I wanted to make really simple scans this time, just me in black and white, but then I ended up including my phone in a couple of them. I love phone layouts. I hope there is or will be a mobile phone museum I can visit. I also hope that smart phones make a return to the slide phone layout by the time I need a new phone, because slide phones are my favourite. Mind you, I've always wanted to have a flip phone too.

Anyway, I felt kinda... fresh today, so I tried to convey that somehow in my scans. In a lot of scans I suppose there's a serenity in that I look like I'm sleeping, so there's that. My hair also reminds me of whirling winds that have been stopped in a freeze frame, just because gravity has been intercepted by the platen glass so the hair is in an odd position. It always makes me feel like a planet, which is nice.

Night Light

What with it being practically Christmas already, the days are Satan's basement levels of dark. It feels kinda weird waking up to an endless night time, but there's a unique beauty about the daylight savings time darkness. This includes the yellow glow of now almost constant indoor lighting. I miss the wealth of natural light coming through my window, but this yellowness is all fireflies and candles. Every time of year has its pros. Besides, I'm in my element with bulky cardigans and sweeping shadows.

Good Time

I got the urge to take some shots around my bedroom this Saturday as it was oddly sunny and I'd been organising my room a little. I'm happy with the doll and snowflakes I've made recently, now collected into a little space together. I made a few paintings and my paint palette turned into a soupy, snotty galaxy. I also wore comfy trackie bottoms which are pretty much my standard homewear because they make me feel brilliant (and I can go outside without changing). Nice.

Diary: Sunny Ghost

Today is a pretty gloomy day (the sky is just one huge cloud right now), but the past week has had a lot of sunshine in it, so you'll see the sun feature prominently in these diary pages, alongside a ghost version of me.

Speed Painting

I'm starting to make speed painting videos because it's quite fun to watch ideas and shapes appearing and changing. I find it quite calming to watch pictures build up, and it's a nice deviation from static images. Movement is sort of all of life.

Here are all my speed painting videos for you to watch if you fancy:
